Data recovery Perth FAQs

Straight answers about data recovery in Perth — pricing, odds, privacy, and what to do the moment you realise something's gone.

How much does data recovery in Perth cost?

Data recovery pricing depends entirely on the device and the type of failure — a logically deleted file is very different from a hard drive with crashed heads. We charge an $85 inspection fee to assess the drive, then give you a written quote before any recovery work begins. You'll always know the price before we proceed.

Can you recover data from a hard drive that's clicking?

Often yes — but a clicking hard drive needs you to stop using it immediately. Clicking usually means the read/write heads have failed and are contacting the platters. Every power-on causes more damage. Power it off, bring it to our Perth lab, and we'll assess whether the heads can be replaced and the data recovered.

What should I do the moment I realise data is lost?

Stop using the device. Don't reinstall the operating system, don't run recovery software repeatedly, don't keep power-cycling a failing drive, and don't let a wet drive sit and corrode. Every one of those reduces the odds. Power it down and contact our Perth data recovery team — the sooner the better.

Do you recover data from SSDs and NVMe drives?

Yes. SSDs fail differently to mechanical drives — controller failures, firmware corruption and worn NAND cells. Recovery is more specialised but very possible. Bring your SSD or NVMe drive to our Perth lab for assessment.

Can you recover data from a failed RAID array or NAS?

Yes — RAID and NAS recovery is one of our specialties. We handle RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10, plus NAS units from Synology, QNAP and others. Multiple-disk failures, failed rebuilds and controller faults can often be recovered by rebuilding the array in our Perth lab. Important: if a drive in your array has failed, stop the rebuild and don't keep writing to it — bring the whole array to us so we can recover it safely.

Is my data kept private during recovery?

Always. Your data is handled confidentially by our Perth technicians and never shared. Once we've recovered your files and you've collected them, we securely wipe any working copies on our equipment. Your privacy matters as much as your data.

How long does data recovery take?

It varies with the failure. A logical recovery (deleted files, formatted drive) can be a day or two. A physically failed hard drive needing head replacement can take longer, partly because we may need to source matching donor parts. We'll give you a realistic timeframe with your written quote.

What if you can't recover my data?

We're honest about the odds before we start, and we'll tell you straight if a recovery is unlikely. The $85 inspection fee covers the assessment regardless of outcome — but we'll never push a costly recovery attempt we don't believe in. We're lenient and fair, and we'll always explain your options clearly.
